“Larila” is the first single from Patrizia Oliva’s album Celante (2019). Album available soon on Setola di Maiale https://www.setoladimaiale.net/catalo… From the notes of Patrizia herself: “Celante. What is that? In 2017 Karianne Fiorini of Re-framing home movies, invited me to compose the music for a short film together with the American director Lori Felker, a work that brought me to Chicago in 2018, where I had the opportunity to play in incredible places like the Millennium Park and the Costellation Club. It was at that time that I began to experiment and compose the music of this record, starting from some ideas that I had improvised and accumulated over the time. I realized that this subtle and minimal music could evolve and become more richer, and this is the direction I wanted to take: writing lyrics for songs for the first time. I have always improvised words and phonemes in all my albums, those alone and those born of my various collaborations. Celante contains eight tracks, one of which with the words of Pier Paolo Pasolini, the same words put in music by Modugno in 1968. But Celante is a small village on the Friulian Dolomites! This is the place where, in the autumn of 2018, I totally dedicated myself to the music and lyrics of this album. I woke up at dawn and caught by the sunlight I started working until sunset. The album cover is an artwork by Korean artist Seung Hee Baik, who entitled this work Celante. The video for the first song Larila is created by Lori Felker.” Recorded, edited and mixed by Tommaso Marletta at Sonic Ray Studio (Roma). This video was created by running one roll of 16mm Ektrachrome film through a bolex four times, each time with a different colored filter. Lori followed her windows and never got out of the house.
