MOVING was produced with a grant from the Chicago Digital Media Production Fund , a project of The Voqal Fund administered by Chicago Filmmakers
MOVING ( www.movingvideos.org ) consists of twelve three-minute video portraits each revealing the subject’s telekinetic power at the turn of the second minute. A Chicago Public School teacher and lawyer, a roller derby league founder, a YouTube personality, an alderman, and others collaborated with the artist Lori Felker to design a portrait that attempts to celebrate and capture who they are and how they might use their unique powers to “move” something or someone. On the main page, the videos play together in a grid, revealing all twelve telekinetic moments simultaneously. The viewer can also
click on any portrait to watch the individual video, read an interview with the subject, and view behind the scenes photos of the shoot. The project features portraits of Elizabeth Gomez , Venita Conway, Lyra Hill , Milly Santiago , Jenny Schlueter, Emma Kemppainen, Amanda/Mandy Martillo, Oldphan/Amanda Sukenick , Patrice Downs, Susan Kelly Powers, L[3]^2 (Lee Blalock) , and Kailey May Ardales & Baridomale “Didi” Denuate. For more about the history of the project and all of the collaborators, see the site’s About and Credits pages.
